Five Houses

All students in Ying Wa College are divided into five houses. Numerous inter-house competitions in the fields of sports, culture and music are held all round the year. The house which gets the highest mark out of all these competitions wins the overall championship of the year. Under the house system, competitions come with great excitement and Ying Wa boys spare no effort in their participation, developing a strong atmosphere in the school.

The five houses are:
Hoh Fuk Tong, Leung Faat, Milne, Morrison and Noble.

Introduction of Five Houses

Hoh Fuk Tong House
Hoh Fok Tong is an important minister in Qing dynasty. When our school Ying Wa College was founded in 1818, he helped the school a lot. So, we use his name as the name of our house. The mascot of our house is an eagle. The Eagle's wings symbolize freedom. Blue is our house colour.

Leung Faat House
Leung Faat House was named after the first pastor in China , Mr. Leung Faat. Brown is the colour of the House and the strong, persevering bull is the mascot.

Milne House
Milne House was named after our first principal Dr. William Milne (1785-1822). He was a missionary who came to China in 1812 to spread the gospel. The mascot for Milne House is Unicorn. The colour for Milne House is yellow.

Morrison House
The name of our House Morrison is used to commemorate our school founder-Pastor Robert Morrison. He was born in England in 1782 and became a preacher at the age of 16. He was sent to Macau to preach in 1807 and did a lot of Bible translation work. In 1818, Morrison and his partner, Dr. William Milne, established Ying Wa College in Malacca. Dragon is the mascot of our House and green colour is our representative colour.

Noble House
Noble House was named after Mr. H. Noble, O. B. E., who was the first principal to bear office since Ying Wa College moved to the school premises at Oxford Road . Noble House was re-established in 1991. Lion is our House mascot and red is our House colour.
